St. Mary’s Cathedral in Tokyo, Japan, by Tange Kenzo, 1964 (gallery)

The original 1899 structure was a Gothic wooden building which burned down during World War II. The building’s current design is in the form of a cross, from which eight hyperbolic parabolas rise, similar to the stunning, landmark, St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco.
